WELCOME, GROW, SHARE…these key words from our mission statement describe what we do as a congregation so that people can have a life-
changing encounter with Jesus Christ.

WELCOME fixes our attention on the worshiper, specifically the one who
comes to us hurting, alone, and in need of a word of hope and love.

GROW takes us deeper by drawing our focus to the spiritual journey every
human being travels and asks how we can empower individuals, families
and our congregation to grow in faith and life. Our aim is to create
passionate followers of Jesus Christ through a commitment to prayer,
dynamic worship, and the study of the scriptures. In and through
ChristCare small groups, individuals are being strengthened in their walk
with Jesus. Through the discovery and use of spiritual gifts, many are
finding the abundant life Jesus came to give!

SHARE simply acknowledges that as Christians, we do not isolate o
ourselves from the needs of God's world. We are called, gifted and sent
to make a difference world. Each of us has a part to play in the kingdom
of God. We do so by living out our lives of faith in our homes, in our
schools, and in our places of employment. Paul describes this as taking
“hold of the life that really is life” (1 Timothy 6:19).

Over the years, God has richly blessed this congregation with many
wonderful, gifted people. Their presence and participation is no accident.
Martin Luther, the great reformer whose name we bear, wrote in his Small Catechism that the Holy Spirit “calls, gathers, enlightens and makes holy
the whole Christian church on earth and keeps it with Jesus Christ….
” This same Spirit may be calling you!

God has blessed Holy Cross with a clear vision for the future. Signs of
this vision are being made visible with our current building expansion.
New worship space will provide an opportunity for hundreds more to hear
the life-changing Word of God through meaningful worship. Expanded educational space will translate into more opportunities for people to go
deeper in their study of the scriptures. Beyond the walls of the building,
people will continue to be touched with the message of the gospel in the
Greater Kansas City area as well as in far away places like Magadan,
Russia. All of this is happening as the Holy Spirit works through the
people of Holy Cross.

WELCOME...GROW…SHARE is what we’re all about. And it’s making a
