Welcome!
Written by Amy Viets
Jesus wants us to be concerned about others and make them feel welcome. So what does it look like when someone is welcomed? One way to figure that out is to think of a time when you didn’t feel very welcome in a place. Maybe nobody talked to you because they were busy talking to their friends who were already there. Or maybe there was no place for you to sit, or not enough snacks to go around. Or maybe no one told you where to go or how things worked. Not getting welcomed can make us feel really bad.
It’s our job, here at Holy Cross and wherever we go, to share Jesus’ love with others and make them feel welcome. Any time we’re in a place where we feel comfortable, we need to help others feel comfortable, too. We can look out for people who seem new, who don’t know where to go or what to do. We can get to know them, introduce them to our friends, and help them find their way. It might seem hard to do at first, but we can do it if we just begin with one simple word: “Welcome!”
Prayer: Dear Jesus, you welcomed ALL people to come to you. Help us show that same love to others by welcoming them here at Holy Cross and all the other places where we spend our time.
