Mission Partner Orientation

God is on a mission to heal this broken world. In Baptism, God makes a claim upon our lives, frees us from the power of sin, and calls us to participate in this big mission in and through the Church. At Holy Cross Lutheran Church, we are re-defining and re-shaping the traditional understanding of church membership. We use the language of Mission Partner instead of member to describe those who formally participate in the life of this congregation. This terminology is not just cosmetic; it reflects some deep theological convictions about our baptismal identity.

God, who is rich in mercy and love, gives us a new birth into a living hope through the sacrament of baptism. By water and the Word God delivers us from sin and death and raises us to new life in Jesus Christ. We are united with all the baptized in the one body of Christ, anointed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, and joined in God's mission for the life of the world.     Holy Baptism, Evangelical Lutheran Worship

Having been “joined in God’s mission for the life of the world,” we have been given a holy calling. If you would like to formally join Holy Cross in this calling, plan to attend one of our twice-annual Mission Partner orientations. This is much more than a “membership orientation.” This orientation will set you on an amazing course of discovery. You will have the opportunity to get to know more about the people, mission, and ministry of Holy Cross.

Childcare is available and we will conclude with dinner and conversation. For more information contact Sherri Armel or call us at 913-491-8022.
