Worship

Visiting for the first time? We look forward to meeting you! We have a variety of worship services that range in style from traditional to contemporary.

Whether you want a liturgical service with an organ, or a more relaxed contemporary service with a beat, each of our worship experiences is designed to help you encounter the living God.

Each week, we celebrate Holy Communion. Anyone who desires to receive Jesus' gift of forgiveness in this meal is invited to the table.

Opportunities to Serve in Worship
It takes a large team of people working together to provide a worship experience that is meaningful and accessible to all who choose to worship at Holy Cross. There are a number of areas in which you can participate in Worship ministries.

Altar Ministry
This ministry oversees the care of the sacristy and prepares communion and the altar for worship services, which takes about 20 minutes before and after the service. For more information contact Lyn Heaton, 913-481-6737.

Liturgical Arts
This ministry oversees the preparation of the sanctuary for worship and special occasions with visual arts to enhance the worship experience, on an as-needed basis. Generally these activities are required more frequently at holiday time. For more information contact Susan Sage, 913-341-8051.

Ushers
Each week, the Holy Cross ushers welcome worshipers, facilitate traffic flow, hand out bulletins, and prepare the sanctuary for worship. Ushers usually are available 15 minutes before and after service. For more information, Tom Train, 913-782-8868.

Assisting Ministers
These individuals assist in the leadership of worship services. For more information contact Pastor Mike,  913-491-8022.

Lectors
Lectors play a vital role in worship by reading the Scriptures for the congregation. For more information contact Lyn Heaton, 913-481-6737.

Communion Assistants
These individuals assist with the distribution of communion during worship services. For more information contact Norma Van Bunnen, 913-393-1986.

Greeters
Greeters offer some of the first smiling faces that greet worshippers on Sunday mornings before worship. Weather permitting, greeters will stand outside and in the entry way, welcoming people to worship and offering a helping hand. Greeters are also stationed at the Welcome Station to greet and offer direction assistance. Greeters usually serve at one service every 2 to 3 months. For more information, contact Buck Peck, 913-492-3102.

Prayer Ministers
Holy Cross has trained prayer ministers who are available for intercessory prayer at the 9:15 and 10:45 worship services during communion. To assist as a prayer minister, please contact Paul Highstrom, 913-685-4265.
